STATESBORO, Ga. – Luca Mayr-Fälten has been named the South Georgia Tormenta FC Player of the Month for July following exceptional performances across four games in the 2021 USL League One regular season.
Mayr-Fälten was a leader in the midfield in July, recording a goal and an assist during Tormenta’s comeback win against Greenville Triumph. The Austrian midfielder recorded 10 shots, seven crosses and seven scoring chances this month and is still ranked second in USL League One for chances created with a total of 32. Mayr-Fälten also won 19 duels on the defensive side.
Mayr-Fälten earned 55.2% of the total vote, edging out defender Joshua Phelps, who earned 21.6%. Midfielder Marco Micaletto collected 18.4% of the vote, while goalkeeper Pablo Jara ended up with 4.2% of the total. The winner was determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote comprised 60 percent of the poll.
- Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
- A media ballot comprised 20 percent of the poll.
