STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC may have fallen 1-2 on the night to Greenville Triumph SC, but the club lifted the Peach States Derby trophy after winning the series via the total goals in the series tiebreaker. Matheus Cassini scored Tormenta FC’s only goal in the 66th minute.
Greenville scored two goals in the first half, with Leo Castro netting both for the visitors.
Tormenta FC came out in the second half hungry to get back into the match. After numerous scoring chances were created, Mukwelle Akale assisted Cassini to put the pressure on Greenville. However, South Georgia was unable to find the equalizer late into the match.

Following Saturday’s match in the Peach States Derby, Tormenta FC shifts its attention to a two-game road test. Tormenta FC will travel to play Forward Madison FC on Wednesday, July 26, at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+) and then travel to play Union Omaha on Saturday July 29, at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+).
