STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC played a thrilling 90 minutes in front of a season-high crowd of 2,041 fans, but ultimately, the South Georgia side came up short against North Carolina FC from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium. Kingsford Adjei and Kazaiah Sterling scored one goal apiece for TFC, but NCFC found the game-winning tally in the 76th minute.
Adjei scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute following a fantastic pass across the box by Sterling. NCFC equalized, though, in the 34th minute, converting a penalty kick.
After providing the first goal, Sterling grabbed one of his own in the 38th minute. Mukwelle Akale provided the assist.
NCFC was awarded yet another penalty kick, though, and Rafa Mentzingen converted his second attempt from the spot to level the score.

TFC had better chances early in the second half, with Pedro Fonseca and Sterling each having an opportunity to score the game-winning tally, but NCFC’s Oalex Anderson proved to be the hero for the visiting side.
Of note, goalkeeper Pablo Jara earned his 100th professional League One appearance for TFC. He became the first player to achieve that feat with the club.
Following Saturday’s fixture against NCFC, Tormenta FC shifts its attention to a midweek clash against Central Valley Fuego FC next Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium (ESPN+).
