STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Davey Mason and Pedro Fonseca have been named to USL League One’s Team of the Week, presented by Konami eFootball, for Week 22 of the 2023 regular season.
Mason, a first-year Ibis defender, tallied his first goal contributions in a South Georgia shirt with a pair of assists in his side’s 2-1 home victory over Fuego FC on Wednesday. The 25-year-old defender also matched a week-high six chances created to go along with eight duels won, seven recoveries, five successful crosses and four clearances across two matches.
Fonseca tallied a goal and an assist in South Georgia’s 3-2 loss in Charlotte on the weekend. The Brazilian midfielder was productive across two Week 22 matches, totaling 10 duels won, six recoveries, four successful long passes and four chances created.
Tormenta FC now shifts its attention to a home matchup against Forward Madison on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium (ESPN+).
