STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced its Players of the Month across its USL League One and W League teams, following impressive performances in July.
The winners were determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote comprised 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
On the professional side, forward Kazaiah Sterling had his most productive month as a Tormenta FC player. Sterling propelled South Georgia to an impressive win over Greenville with a one-goal, one-assist performance. As a result, Sterling has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for three consecutive weeks.
Sterling earned 58.6% of the total vote, with midfielder Jamil Roberts coming in second with 31.8%. Midfielders Gabriel Cabral and Adrian Billhardt follow at 6% and 3.5%, respectively.

From the USL W League team, Ellerbe’s low profile this summer helped her play her game under no spotlight; The defensive unit only allowed two goals in July. Ellerbe’s speed and precise reading of the game distinguish her from her opponents. Additionally, Ellerbe played every minute throughout Tormenta FC’s playoff run this season, culminating in the USL W League title.
Ellerbe earned a majority of the vote with 59.7%, followed by midfielder Jaida Nyby at 23%. Goalkeeper Sydney Martinez and forward Amy Andrews earned 14.7% and 2.73% of the vote, respectively.

Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC will take on the Charlotte Independence on Hunting and Conservation Night, sponsored by Lee Hill and Johnston Insurors on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Erk Russell Park, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
