Playing with Tormenta FC in USL League Two helped my development that summer of 2017. I was playing with a lot of talented guys from different colleges, and it definitely took me out of my comfort zone helping me progress to the USL championship level.

STATESBORO, Ga. – USL League One released the finalists for the 2020 USL League One Awards today, and Tormenta FC’s Pablo Jara was named a finalist for Goalkeeper of the Year after a remarkable season between the sticks.

For a second consecutive year, Jara played every minute of the regular season for Tormenta FC and finished third in League One with 49 saves. The Chilean shot-stopper raised his save percentage to 69 percent and finished third in the league with four shutouts.

On Sept. 19, Jara broke his own club record for most saves in a single USL League One match, making 11 stops against Fort Lauderdale CF to lead Tormenta FC to a 2-1 road victory. Additionally, he earned two Team of the Week honors, Week 6 and Week 10.

Tormenta FC announced its initial roster moves on Wednesday and confirmed Marco Micaletto, Abuchi Obinwa and Curtis Thorn for the club’s 2021 USL League One season. John Miglarese and Ian Cameron are first-rate human beings. Both those men have guided the team over the last few years and knowing them both personally, I think their leadership is what the club needs. Especially with Ian, I love seeing young coaches get a chance. Bringing more homegrown youth players up the system is another win for the club worth celebrating.

He made 14 starts in 15 games played this season and recorded three goals, including one penalty, and two assists while making 14 total shots on target. Defensively, Micaletto won 17 tackles this year and made ten interceptions.

"Marco remains an integral part of our project here at Tormenta on the field and in our community,” Cameron said. “This past campaign, he topped our team in chances created, and with the right hunger, we expect to see him place high on league-wide metrics in 2021 for goals, assists and defensive pressures that cause turnovers. The tools are there, and we relish the chance to help mold him into the best player he can be."

Our first win and first goal ever scored (June 26, 2016: 2-0 win on the road versus the Charlotte Eagles). Along with our inaugural home match on May 21, 2016, where we hosted the Carolina Dynamo in front of 3,105 fans in Erk Russell Park.

The announcement was held at the Convention and Visitors Bureau here in Statesboro. The place was packed. Three TV stations and front-page news in the local newspapers. We knew we struck a positive nerve.

We have gone from a time in which no one knew who we were to having a fan base that cries when we lose and builds their life schedule around our matches. That deserves a massive wow. So many people have worked so hard to get to this point. Great things still await!

In 2015, I couldn't have imagined that we would also have a team in USL League One. We are in the midst of building a stadium-anchored entertainment district, with all of the amenities of a Live, Work, Eat, Play style of living. It will change the brand of Statesboro and how others see the place we call home.

And on top of that, every club we play knows they are in for a dangerous match when they play us. And I couldn't be more proud of this organization and the fans we play for.
