STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 has announced midfielder Brian Gonzalez to its 2022 USL League Two roster, pending league and federation approval. Gonzalez brings experience and leadership to Tormenta FC 2 as a staple of the California Baptist University Men’s Soccer program and community.
“Brian is a player that our USL League One and League Two staff have been tracking for some time,” Head Coach Tom Morris commented. “He is someone who has one year left in college and that we believe has pro potential if he maximizes the next 12 months.
“Brian is one of those unique midfielders who combines an excellent work ethic, a pressing mentality; along with technical ability and a knack for scoring important goals. Brian is a leader for his college, and we expect him to bring that mentality to Statesboro this summer. We are looking forward to welcoming him to Tormenta.”
In 2021, Gonzalez wrote his name in the CBU record books by becoming the eighth player in program history to record three assists in one single match. With five goals in 18 games, Gonzalez was CBU’s 3rd highest goal-scorer and and also ranked third in assists.
“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to represent this club,” Gonzalez commented about his next move. “I’m ready to get to work.”
The midfielder is set to debut in USL League Two in May 2022 and hopes to leave a good impression in Statesboro before his final year of eligibility at California Baptist University.
